Jusss Thoughts...

So you guys may or may not know I dance..

no not that pole dancing type ish'

HIP HOP. I dance Hip Hop. yes I do thank you very much. I started when I was little like 6 or 7. Then I stopped to get on the nerd train and do school and stuff. Then Liek in Highschool is when I started getting back into it. Like I remember going to TM studio after my whole dance hiatus, haha I was outta step I sucked. There is a video, but I rather not post it. The words BEGINNING HIP HOP haunt me til' this day. lol nahh I juss playing but that day was BADD&&HARDD!

So ha. I'm getting completely off topic right now. We will save my dance history for another blog.

But back to what I wanted to talk about. I first came to notice a group called Essence a while back. Gigi Torres founded them, and let me add for anyone who knows me KNOWS I know whassup with Gigi. I look up to her so much, her work is amazing. Dont't get me wrong I have met others who are just as amazing, but something about Miss. Torres just wants me to keep watching her over and over and over again. I look up to any woman who empowers women, and that she does mos'def.

BUT, this blog isn't about Gigi either, I am writing this blog on April Rodriguez. April, also known as Apes is also a member of Essence. I read about her and it was said she started school at UCI and took her 1st hip hop class at the age of 18, but she was dancing every since she was 7 doing hula and other dances. Shes really good, having history with Kaba Modern and other dance groups.

I had just finished reading Ape's blog yesterday. I was watching some of her vids, and decided to check out her blog on wordpress. Its really cool, her blogging about all her dances. She has been almost everywhere because of dance. I read this one entry that was talking about how her parents wanted to her to finish school but she believed GOD had put her where he wanted her to be. And she followed her dream. Its cool she followed her dreams and look where she is at now.

I am in the same boat, I would give anything to do the dreams that I want. BUT cuntless times I am reminded by my parents and others around me saying that 1st, with the economy dance as a profession isn't going to cut it and 2nd dance isnt something that is going to get you anywhere. BUT with my drive and passion for dance it WILL get me somewhere. I believe in myself and I have GOD on my side and with those two Catalysis I am bound to make a name for myself.

April lives her dream, travels, has a BF, and traveles with her Best Friends. She may not see her fam bam alot but her friends are liek family so that keeps her cool until she gets Home Home.

I dunno. I wanna dance soo bad. Get on a team, teach others maybe travel a bit. Thats why I feel Essence is so positive, teaching women they CAN dance and do anything through dance and passion as well as dedication and the will to be driven to succeed in anything they do.

I look up to the WOMEN of Essence, Hey you never know just like April maybe Gigi will pick me up and ask me to practice with them; maybe you will see me with Essence one day? :)
